Rex works by comparing your movie ratings with members who have rated those movies similarly; with this comparison, Rex suggests other movies to you that those members have also liked. The more movies you rate, the more Rex knows about your tastes and interests and the better he is at recommending other movies you'll like.

What's on the Recommendations page?

We've revamped our recommendations page to show you more movies that you'll enjoy. If you've rated enough movies Rex will display personalized recommendations of films that people with similar tastes have rented and rated highly. You can browse through the pages or refresh for new recommendations.

If you haven't rented any (or enough) movies for us to personalize your recommendations, we'll show you 25 movies at a time that other members have enjoyed and rated highly. We encourage you to rate these movies (and others you've seen as you browse through our site) so that we can get to know you better and start making personalized recommendations.

What is the Rate Movies page?

This is a list of movies that you've recently rented from Rogers Video Direct and have yet to rate. We've put them here in one easy place so you can take a few moments to give them a rating and improve the recommendations we make to you. If there are no titles on this page then you've rated all the movies you've rented from Rogers Video Direct.

What is the My Ratings page?

This is a list of all the movies you've ever rated on our site, regardless of whether you've rented them or not. You can sort through this list, change the ratings, rent movies or share them with your friends and help them find movies they might enjoy watching.

What if I haven't rated any (many) movies?

If you haven't rated any movies, we'll still suggest hidden gems and popular titles to you, but you don't get the benefit of personalized recommendations. Start rating movies and soon Rex will be able to make personalized recommendations of other movies you'll enjoy.

Are my recommendations saved so I can look at them again?

Not really. The recommendations are dynamically produced and change as you and others rate movies. Depending on your tastes, we may be able to recommend hundreds of movies, so it's likely that the movie will still be on your list somewhere, which is why you can page through your recommendations.

You'll see them throughout our site anywhere there is a film we think you'll enjoy.

You can rate movies anywhere on the site by clicking on the stars that appear near every title on our site. Rate movies you've rented or seen at the theatres and be sure to rate films you disliked as well so we know not to recommend very similar movies. If you aren't interested in a movie, whether you've seen it or not, click the Not Interested button next to the stars so we know not to recommend that movie to you in the future.

Rate movies! It's as simple as clicking on a rating star to rate movies you've rented with us, from elsewhere or seen in theatres. The ratings add up quickly to give us a more accurate profile of your likes and dislikes and helps Rex recommend other movies that you'll enjoy.

Clicking on the Not Interested icon beside the rating stars tells us that you're not interested in seeing this movie and we'll make sure not to recommend it to you again.

It may be that we don't know enough about your movie likes and dislikes to make any personalized recommendations. Start rating movies on our site so that we can make personalized recommendations and keep rating movies so that we can refine and improve those recommendations. To remove movies that you've seen before or don't want to see again, either rate the movie or click on the Not Interested icon and we won't show it again.
